The
Hungry Mother Lutheran Retreat Center is a 58 acre site in the Blue Ridge
Mountains, perhaps one of the best kept secrets in Southwest
Virginia. Our mission is to provide intentional community in God's
creation. We spread God's grace by giving our sisters and brothers an
opportunity to sense the presence of God in nature. We seek to
practice Christ-like hospitality and welcome all who wish to visit

We are located on a dead end
road half a mile after passing through the Hungry Mother State Park and
just 10 minutes off Interstate 81 at exit 47. Hungry
Mother Creek, which is the source for Hungry Mother Lake, flows
through the camp while National Forest surrounds us on three
sides. Deer, turkey and hawks can be seen during sunrise and
sunset in the open fields.
We welcome people of all
affiliations and denominations to come use our facilities and to
participate in our programmed events.
